NOTE: The only difference between the Omega VERT 350 and the VERT 330HD is the color.
REVIEW
The Omega VERT juices much faster, more easily, and more quietly than the Solostar II, Green Star, and other juicers. This is identical to the Hurom Slow Juicer, except the Hurom has a carrying handle. One reason this juicer is faster is because the feed chute opening is about 50% larger than other slow RPM juicers. So rather than having to cut a fat cucumber lengthwise into quarters, it can be cut in half, saving time cutting and feeding.
We were surprised at how much smaller it is than the single auger and twin gear juicers. Even compared to most upright centrifugal juicers, it is significantly smaller, with only a 5.5 inch wide by 8 inch deep footprint. During operation, the juicing screen is wiped by rubber blades to keep the screen mesh from clogging, a nice feature that keeps the juice flowing well and producing drier pulp than other slow RPM juicers. However, the blades, scraper assembly, and the gear that turn it are a bit flimsy, so it appears they would be the parts most likely to need replacement before the ten-year warranty is up. However, Omega is very good about replacing parts under warranty, and considering the speed and ease of juicing, it's worth any minor parts replacement that you can easily do yourself.
Considering the time this juicer will save every day, we were willing to sell our one-year old Solostar at a loss to save time and effort with this juicer. The juice and pulp containers are also very large at four cups each, and they stack nicely next to the juicer for tight storage.
We also find the nylon brush works well for cleaning the screen and parts. With our SoloStar II and Green Star, we quickly wore away the bristles on the screen and switched to a wire brush. Not necessary with this large open screen, the nylon brush actually works better than wire.
The juicer has a fine mesh screen for harder produce and less pulp, the coarse screen for soft produce like fruit, but we found the coarse screen unnecessary. Unlike with other juicers, sending the pulp through a second time does extract more juice from it.
We found it a little easier to jam the auger and stop the motor on this juicer compared to single auger and twin gear juicers, but it easily reverses to correct the problem. We did not find that to be a hindrance, it juices tough greens like kale and wheatgrass well without jamming.
Very little pressure, if any, is needed to feed produce. The large round auger really grabs produce, so no more jamming produce with the plunger.
This juicer gets our highest rating, we highly recommend it.
